p.Terrible Start of Year 2014

The last part is here: The Ultimate Bet

OMG !!!  Year 2014 has a terrible start for me. A roof fell on me! Luckily due to my advanced years I managed to follow my own inner voice - "故其疾如風、其徐如林、侵掠如火、難知如陰、不動如山、動如雷霆".

In life, there is no need for anger and pain. These are for the sentimentalists. When a decision needs to be exercised. Do not argue your view point, although it is perfectly sound to reasonable persons, exercise the Sun Tzu's Art of War immediately. When engaging in a battle, the enemy does not subscribe to reasons as they know they were beyond reasons. They can't engage reasons as they know full well that they must be unreasonable to start a battle. They would just stick to their monochromatic view point and totally ignore your plight, they will just knife it into your throat.

You have two choices:

One, become angry and kick up a ruckus. You wouldn't win as they had expected you to do so. They would hold on to your two ding dongs and play their hard ball game.

Two, calmly declare that the situation is new to you and you needed time to react. Ask for time. Ask for their new and unreasonable terms. Pretend to bargain as hard as you possibly can so that they think that they had you hooked line and sinker. Move slightly away and get time alone. Plot the reaction. You must sound extremely calm and since the new situation is going to get you, you need to ask for external help. Ask them for time to locate external help and feedback some time later. Ask for a deadline as late as possible without sounding insincere. Accept some of the terrible terms as if you have no choice, try very hard to reject the other terms. The key to this is that you are trying to bargain. By bargaining, they will feel secure.

Move away for some time alone. Plot a time line that is just short of the actual deadline.

Return with all smiles and said that your friends are great pals. Your friends are with you all the way. But, their help is going to be marginally beyond the deadline agreed on earlier. The enemy will begin to savor the important victory although it might come a little later than expected.

With that concession, immediately move 75% of your pieces out of harm's way. The enemy wouldn't complain as they felt they can still hold on to your 25%. Start to spread thinly all your assets across the entire boundary. Give the illusion you are staying on their terms of contract.

Over the remaining period, remove your assets 5% at a time under their noses. Potentially you might lose the final 5%, but in all warfare, you can't expect not to lose any assets. Just give the illusion that you are still very much engaged.

On days just before the actual and original deadline (not the negotiated later one), move out totally and restart your life with another proprietor.

This is the tactics used by Sun Tzu as he must stay as still as the mountain and move in one SINGLE stroke as swift as the thunderclap. Only then, can you return least harmed.

This roof falling was fun. It tested simply my ability to react to situation. I have matured over time and life.

Happy New Year, everyone, though I am a little bruised.

I am now engaging new proprietors with terms that are even better than this former proprietor. Nothing too bad came out of this. But, this is my new year celebration. I am not supposed to fight and engage in battles. But, one can never drop the guards for too long. Sigh ... Life is ...

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (兵勢篇第五) (Chapter 5 - 2) (Part 26)

Let's continue ...

Some translation suggested:
The onset of troops is like the rush of a torrent which will even roll stones along in its course. The quality of decision is like the well-timed swoop of a falcon which enables it to strike and destroy its victim. Therefore the good fighter will be terrible in his onset, and prompt in his decision. Energy may be likened to the bending of a crossbow; decision, to the releasing of a trigger. Amid the turmoil and tumult of battle, there may be seeming disorder and yet no real disorder at all; amid confusion and chaos, your array may be without head or tail, yet it will be proof against defeat. Simulated disorder postulates perfect discipline, simulated fear postulates courage; simulated weakness postulates strength. Hiding order beneath the cloak of disorder is simply a question of subdivision; concealing courage under a show of timidity presupposes a fund of latent energy; masking strength with weakness is to be effected by tactical dispositions.
Moran:   When sufficiently agitated, water can carry away stones. This is an example of a power configuration (i.e., a configuration that channels power into a target in an effective way). The ferocity of raptors can rise to the point of destruction [of their prey]. This is on account of sections (i.e., inflections). PEM: Bamboo has sections. In what sense do raptors have "sections"? Their actions involve sudden changes in directions that are under their control. For instance, the fastest falcons glide in circular patterns until they spot something, dive at terrific speeds, seize their prey at speed, and yet manage not to crash into the ground. The sudden changes in direction are like the changes in density between the hollow part of a section of bamboo and the solid "caps" at each end of a section.
PEM: The g-force experienced by a falcon pulling out of a power dive at about 300 mph is about three times that experienced by a fighter pilot executing a similar powered maneuver.
For this reason, those who are good at warfare keep their power configurations abrupt and cause the inflections of their movements to occur over short periods of time. PEM: In other words, changes at least metaphorically involve sharp turns at high speeds. Fighter pilot and (later) military strategist John Boyd (USAF) was the first to recognize that, assuming general speed equivalence, the plane that could turn more sharply and also both decelerate and accelerate more rapidly was superior in a dogfight.
A power configuration is like a drawn crossbow. An inflection is like the firing of it. ( is a variant of which has the same meaning as .) PEM: In drawing a crossbow, energy is added to a mechanical system by slowly pulling, or even cranking, the bowstring back until it engages with the trigger mechanism where it is held in readiness to be released over a very short period of time and in a particular direction. Note that in the beginning force is directed away from the arrow point, and at the inflect ion point force suddenly begins to be directed toward the arrow noch. The crossbow has parts that are arranged to direct power along a definite configuration or path, and a trigger that is a movable lever with no great mechanical advantage or strength of its own but is yet something that touches off a great change of state in a short time.
In the fog of armed struggle and disorder, one cannot permit oneself to become mentally disordered. One must be indefinite in outline, chaotic in appearance, and yet inherently cohesive, so that one cannot be defeated. PEM: Metaphorically, one always wants to be like a crossbow bolt that quickly shoots into action. One does not want to be like a crossbow that shatters and releases its pent up energy futilely in all directions.
Disorder is produced out of order. Cowardice is produced out of bravery. Weakness is produced out of strength. PEM: Is he talking about real or simulated disorder, etc.? Regardless, one cannot have disorder unless there is something that was originally well ordered, and entropy will eventually produce disorder unless repairs are made on a timely basis.
Bringing order to disorder is a matter of imposing regularity through strength of mind. Producing bravery out of cowardice is a matter of [the proper use of] power configurations. Bringing strength out of weakness is a matter of structuring things. PEM: What he means about bravery is that people, even bold people, are not brave in the abstract. A brave act occurs when there is no choice about the danger faced, yet there is a decision as to whether to flee or to act. Troops, fortifications, etc., can be configured just as impounded water can be directed down a flume.

Let's discuss:

Water when sped can carry away stones. This is influence.
:   A bird of prey when sped can destroy a prey. This is chained action.
Therefore, good warrior employs dangerous influence and short chained action.
:   Influence is like a powerful drawn crossbow. Chained action is like its useful short trigger.
:   In the diverse and muddled armed struggle, disorder contends disorder, one cannot be confused. In chaos, formations are round-shaped without start or end, one cannot be overcome.
:   Disorder comes from order, cowardice comes from bravery, weakness comes from strength.
Bring order to disorder by imposing subdivision; bring bravery to cowardice by imposing strategic influence; bring strength to weakness by imposing military shape.

Again the translation was not well done. They thought they have gotten it right, but not the case at all.

Sun Tzu said even as formless as water when sped can carry stones, i.e., influence. Raptor when employing rapid successive actions can kill, i.e., connected action. A successful attack must therefore employs both heavy influence and short killing actions. Even an ordered army can be disordered, a brave soldier can be cowed and a strong army can be weakened. It is important to see these problems and solve them.

In business, both strengths and weaknesses are interchangeable. For example, size may be viewed as a strength, but, it causes clumsiness in decision-making which is a weakness. There is no such thing as a definite strength and a definite weakness. Every considered factor is both a strength and weakness.

The key lesson learned here is that a strength would not forever remain a strength nor a weakness, solving these weaknesses simply require the correct solution set.

b.Article - Queen Elizabeth's cash crisis: Monarch 'down to last million'

Queen Elizabeth's cash crisis: Monarch 'down to last million'
Published January 28, 2014 FoxNews.com

June 2, 2012: Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip arrive for the Epsom Derby at Epsom race course, southern England at the start of four-day Diamond Jubilee celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain is apparently one royal who is no longer flush.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a report by the House of Commons' Public Accounts Committee has found that the Queen's financial reserves have reached a "historic low," dwindling to 1 million pounds ($1.66 million) from 35 million pounds ($58 million) in 2001.*

The Committee's report has placed the blame squarely on the Queen's advisers for overspending in a manner out of line with the austerity measures that have been adopted by Prime Minister David Cameron's government. According to the Telegraph, the royal household only managed 5 percent efficiency savings over the past five years, while some British government departments have cut their budgets by up to 33 percent. In the 2012-13 fiscal year, the report found that the royal household received 31 million pounds ($51.4 million) in taxpayer funds, but spent 33.3 million ($55.2 million), dipping into the reserves in the process.*

Margaret Hodge, a Labour MP who chaired the committee, told Sky News that the financial mismanagement has resulted in two of the Queen's most famous residences falling into disrepair, with no contingency plant to pay for the backlog of repairs.*

"Forty percent of [the royal estate] needs something doing to it," Hodge said. "The boilers at Buckingham Palace haven't been replaced for 60 years. Windsor Castle has problems with the bedrooms and the Royal Picture Gallery has buckets to catch the water coming through."

Hodge also called on the Treasury to "be actively involved in reviewing the Household's financial planning and management," which she claimed it has failed to do.*

A Buckingham Palace spokesman the Telegraph that repairing the royal palaces was "a significant financial priority" and claimed that the royal household had doubled its income since 2007.

Interesting Video (Please watch the entire show):    THRIVE: What On Earth Will It Take?

My Comments:
(Passion Business VII - cryptocurrency

This article and the video is so interesting. It presented in no uncertain terms that the fiat currency is accelerating the erosion of value. The video said it in completeness: "This erosion by printing more fiat money every single year is making the value you held on to in terms of the currency you hold is reduced every single year. It guaranteed the currency printer will rob and eat you for free."

With this grim circumstance, the cryptocurrency I am proposing would be successful beyond my wildest dreams. Hopefully I don't get in the way of too many bureaucracies. My partner-in-crime is concerned with the ultimate security of the system. I am proposing the most difficult hash codes - SHA-3 2048 bits (four times more than the current 512 bits). In time, it will be able to automatically handle even more complex hash functions.

As long as the system don't get hacked and multiple mirrors set-up, I am sure we would be resistant to physical and cyber security breeches. We would have time to perfect the system, as the bureaucracies need time to catch up. Finally, I have re-engaged my cyber business. I lost it about 20 years ago. Now it is all coming home. Thank You, partner-in-crime.

b.Passion Business VII - Cryptocurrency (II)

The last parts are here:   Passion Business VII - Cryptocurrency   and   Exploration - Fiat Currency

Before the new spring, already so happening. Never has my partner-in-crime supported an idea so out-rightly. When I explained the idea behind the cryptocurrency (hoping to drill it into a passion business), he was bored claiming that it will take a genius to work the algorithm. When I explained the concept of fiat currency (just an business exploration), he immediately pointed out these are two very different animals. After further explanation, the latter meant a totally different thing. He pointed out that one thing - xxxxx (for inner ring only). I was floored. He drew blood from the concept just like that. I was silent for a while.

He then suggested he will initiate the programming in good time. As programmers, I believe we belong to the original breed. His programming is scarily good. Finally, we have a mobile phone app in good time. He claimed this is a huge project on its own. I was pleased.

When I rehashed the concept to a friend. She immediately pointed out that it meant only one thing - xxxxx. I was flabbergasted. How can I be so dumb as to the true meaning of my discovery?

This concept has been on my mind for the better of 10 years. I have done talking, programming and negotiations, but yet I never manage to bring to fruit. Although this time it is still on paper. But, our progress is way, way ahead. Together with my partner-in-crime, we already saw its possibilities.

My friend after so many years has also grown in business feelings. She was a lot more agile in her criticisms.

Not a bad start indeed ... New Year.

p.Show - 衣锦还乡

The last part is here:   Show - 非常完美 (2014)

The show is here:   衣錦還鄉 [微電影]

In this festive season, how many of us dare to claim that we have achieved this? I think not many. Even with the best intent and purpose, I have epic failed.

As written in all gal books, there was not a single occasion that one can make amend. The only option left is to move on and hope that the next person I encounter would be greater than the sum of parts.

I have tried my best. I can therefore only hope for the best.

In the show:
  • Criminal - He took the fall for 10 years and the ring leader promised him $100k as part of the agreement. When he finally returned, his mother disapproved. His wife ran off with another gang member. His $100k was also makaned. In short, he returned home empty, crippled and jobless. His mother has no respect for him.
  • Young Gal - She returned hoping to find a nice house built, but instead found a shell. Her father explained that her $100k was no where enough for the building of the house. She found out that he has gambled away the money. She has hope that the money would have built-up a nice house where all members of the family (including the mother) could be reunited and live under one roof. She went off disappointed and never return.
  • Old Man - He returned after 32 years of work, to find that his son "married" off to a faraway place and when his son left, his son's wife cried herself blind and died. He managed to locate his son's address and the son agreed to bring him over. He refused and claimed that he is already home.
Chinaman has a great way of doing hard hitting themes. This I must give it to them. They wave their poverty as an excuse to do crime, to gamble (as there were no other meaningful activity in the village), to elope, to fuck another man and to exonerate one-self from all responsibilities.

I am sick to the core that my skin remained yellow, i.e., self-loafing. I am sure the other races are just as bad. The shit-skin is definitely in the same class as the yellow-skin, given their long cultural history. The pinoy-skin is not far either. Civilization has taught us nothing, except cunning, deceit and trickery. Even the Sun Tzu must advocate in his last and most important concluding chapter that we have to use deceitful spies to complete our tasks.

I know life is tough on that fucken little island. What makes you think that it is any easier in other parts of the world? We only just have to huddle together and try.  If one were to work hard and be extremely happy with what we already have. We wouldn't need so much want. We can always have the companionship of family and friends.

I am of course no saint. I cannot hope for a blissful end. But, I do hope in this festive season all kins are well.

That fucken little island is getting more and more poisonous. Even my childhood friends are going at each other's throat. Why? I asked. For that few crumbs of bread dropped from the table? The world is so big. Why? I asked again. Isn't there more to life than to compare, compete and connive? Isn't there better activity than to go at one another or for that matter, any throat. It was not just one on one, but gang versus gang. The few whites I knew are also going at each other's throat. This world is crazy.

Let's enjoy the show ...

b.Exploration - Fiat Currency

The last part is here:   Exploration - Town Planning (II)

I am feeling so brillant today. I think I have cracked the concept of fiat currency.

(From Wiki)
Fiat money has been defined variously as:
  • any money declared by a government to be legal tender.
  • state-issued money which is neither convertible by law to any other thing, nor fixed in value in terms of any objective standard.
  • money without intrinsic value.
The term derives from the Latin fiat ("let it become", "let it be done", "it shall be").

While gold- or silver-backed representative money entails the legal requirement that the bank of issue redeem it in fixed weights of gold or silver, fiat money's value is unrelated to the value of any physical quantity. Even a coin containing valuable metal may be considered fiat currency if its face value is defined by law as different from its market value as metal.

The Nixon Shock of 1971 ended the direct convertibility of the United States dollar to gold. Since then, all reserve currencies have been fiat currencies, including the U.S. dollar and the Euro.

The countries around would never agree to revert back to non-fiat days. But, the people around the world is keen to protect their purchasing power, but the government are keen to erode them. The push-pull will go on forever.

The power of wealth comes from the number of goats or camels one possessed during the Egyptian times. Even gals/slaves were exchanged in terms of goats per gal/slaves. Everything is exchanged based on assets per exchange. This type of exchange protects the purchasing power.

But, when fiat currency was introduced, primarily because the government-of-the-day refused to honour their part of the bargain by honouring value. The government-of-the-day just want to suck value off their people. Short of a better way, the government-of-the-day just do it fiscally.

There are not many things one can invest in:
  • Shares - The company corrupts and cons your investments by paying themselves high salaries, first class tickets and share options.
  • Commodity - Easy to buy. Volatile. Fun. But, when you want to encash they kill you with very high administrative fee.
  • Insurance - This life insurance is a joke. Easy to buy, Good on paper. But, when claiming they give all sorts of reasons as their investment returns are not guaranteed. Fuck them.
  • Forex - This is just pure gambling. The winner is the gambling house.
  • Bonds - This is the worst investment. Fully manipulated by the government-of-the-day.
  • Coins/Notes/Old Paintings/Stamps/Artifacts - Useless. Easy to buy. Difficult to sell.
To protect one's purchasing power is key to the problem sum.

My Solution:

This can apply to any commodity.

I got this inspiration from Bitcoin.

Assuming I have 10 sheep. Each sheep is priced at say, $50 (Assuming I bought it for $25). I sell them each at $50 in year 0 to 10 investors as perpetual sheep. Each investor would receive a certificate stating they owned 1 perpetual sheep. These sheep after 1 year would give birth to some more sheep. Some sheep might also die. But, that's the farm's problem. The farm will feed these sheep. Pander after them. Cut their fur for sale. Based on preliminary assessment, the fur and the offsprings more than compensate the keeping and feeding of the sheep on the farm land. This must be the case, else the farmer will quit.

At the end of the year 1, the farmer would announce some dividends in terms of number of sheep per perpetual sheep (say 1-10% of the perpetual sheep), hopefully this dividend would improve the investment value. Each year, each sheep would be worth more in terms of fiat currency, which protects the purchasing power of the investor. The dividend is definitely a bonus to the investment vehicle.

In bitcoin concept, the "miners" are the farmers of the sheep. While the "coins" are the perpetual sheep which are way more valuable.

These perpetual sheep can be traded or exchange for other valuable goods or fiat cash. The choice is absolutely free-forming.

Every year, the investor is given an opportunity to convert the perpetual sheep to other form of assets, such as perpetual birdnest.

In the event you wish to take delivery of the sheep, the farmer will let you into the farm and based a random generator, you may collect your sheep free-of-administrative-charge. There shall be no hustle.

Going back to Egyptian time is key. Modern concepts are bullshit in protecting value.

For those of you more intelligent people out there, try applying this concept to birdnest and give me your feedback. Thank you. New Year.

b.Megatrend (Article) - HSBC Bank on Verge of Collapse: Second Major Banking Crash Imminent

The last part is here:   Megatrend - Depression sucks!

HSBC Bank on Verge of Collapse:   Second Major Banking Crash Imminent
Kerry-anne January 25, 2014

Concerns about an imminent bank crash were further fuelled today at news that HSBC are restricting the amount of cash that customers can withdraw from their own bank accounts. Customers were told that without proof of the intended use of their own money, HSBC would refuse to release it. This, and other worrying signs point to a possible financial crash in the near future.

HSBC Collapse

HSBC is scrambling to manage a seemingly terminal liquidity crisis (a lack of hard cash) that could see the bank become the next Northern Rock – and trigger a bank crash. The analyst’s advice is for shareholders to sell HSBC investments, and customers to move their accounts elsewhere before the crash.

This from the Telegraph:

Forensic Asia on Tuesday began its coverage of Britain’s largest banking group with a ‘sell’ recommendation, warning the lender had between $63.6bn (£38.7bn) and $92.3bn of “questionable assets” on its balance sheet, ranging from loan loss reserves and accrued interest to deferred tax assets, defined benefit pension schemes and opaque Level 3 assets.

According a report by the BBC’s MoneyBox Programme, HSBC customers have gone to withdraw cash from their accounts, only to find HSBC would not release the funds. Customers were told to make a bank transfer instead, unless they provided documentation proving the intended use of the money. Stephen Cotton attempted a withdrawal and told the programme:

“When we presented them with the withdrawal slip, they declined to give us the money because we could not provide them with a satisfactory explanation for what the money was for. They wanted a letter from the person involved.”

Mr Cotton says the staff refused to tell him how much he could have: “So I wrote out a few slips. I said, ‘Can I have £5,000?’ They said no. I said, ‘Can I have £4,000?’ They said no. And then I wrote one out for £3,000 and they said, ‘OK, we’ll give you that.’ “

He asked if he could return later that day to withdraw another £3,000, but he was told he could not do the same thing twice in one day.

As this was not a change to the Terms and Conditions of your bank account we had no need to pre-notify customers of the change” He wrote to complain to HSBC about the new rules and also that he had not been informed of any change.

The bank said it did not have to tell him. “As this was not a change to the Terms and Conditions of your bank account, we had no need to pre-notify customers of the change,” HSBC wrote.

Mr Cotton is not alone, with other customers seeking to withdraw cash amounts over £3,000 facing the same obstacles. While HSBC argue there is comes customer security interest here, the story simply doesn’t add up. Customer identification is required for large withdrawals, not customer intentions – a person’s cash is theirs to withdraw and place wherever they so wish. Instead, HSBC has been found to have a capitalization black hole (gap between actual cash and obligations) of $80bn. The message is simple, get your money out now.

The Gold Rush

The major banks and states appear to be preparing for impending crisis, while pretending to the public that the economic situation is improving.

There is a gold rush underway, with Banks and States frantically buying up as much gold reserve as they can, stoking fears that confidence in currency is at an all-time low. In recent months and weeks, banks like HSBC and JP Morgan, and states such as the US, Germany and China have joined the gold rush, making vast purchases of stocks.

Investment analysts at Seeking Alpha have been monitoring the strange activity on the COMEX, stating:

“keeping track of COMEX inventories is something that is recommended for all serious investors who own physical gold and the gold ETFs (SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), PHYS, and CEF) because any abnormal inventory declines may signify extraordinary events behind the scenes.”

Another Bank Crash? Why?

The crash is in some ways a replay of the last one. The US dollar is a fiat currency (as is the pound sterling, the euro and most other major currencies). This means, it is monopoly money. There is no gold reserve that its values are pegged to. It is simply made up. So how does money get made? A private, for profit central bank prints it and lends it to the government (or other banks) at an interest rate. So the Central Bank prints $100, and gives it to the government on the basis that it returns $101. You may have already spotted the first flaw in this process. The additional $1 can only ever come from the Central Bank. There is never enough money. The second issue is that all money is debt.

This used to be the way pretty much all of the money in circulation came to be. That is, until Investment and Retail Banks got tired of this monopoly on debt based currency, and kicked off the commercial money supply. You might assume that when you take out a loan or other form of credit, a bank gives you that money from its reserves, and you then pay back that loan to the Bank at a given interest rate – the Bank making its profit on the interest rate. You would be wrong. The Bank simply creates that loan on a computer screen. Let’s say you are granted a loan for $100,000. The moment that loan is approved and $100k is entered on the computer – that promise from you to the bank creates $100k for the bank, in that instant. This ledger entry alone creates the $100k, from nothing. Today, over 97% of all money that exists, is made this way.

This is what drove the dodgy lending practises that created the last crisis. But since then, the failure to regulate the markets means that while bailouts hit public services and the real economy – banks were free to continue the same behaviour, bringing the next crash.

The world’s second richest man, Warren Buffet warned us in 2003 that the derivatives market was ‘devised by madmen’ and a ‘weapon of mass destruction’ and we have only seen the first blast in this debt apocalypse.

The news that should have us all worried is: the derivatives market contains $700trn of these debts yet to implode. Global GDP stands at $69.4trn a year. This means that (primarily) Wall Street and the City of London have run up phantom paper debts of more than ten times of the annual earnings of the entire planet.

Not only can the Bankers not pay it back, the combined earning power of the earth could not pay it back in less than ten years if every last cent of our productive power went solely to pay off this debt.

This is why answering the issues with our currencies, our banking practices and economic system are not theoretical or academic – they are a matter of our very survival.

My Comments:

Today is year 2014 - 15 years of depression to go

At the end of the day, the banks may not collapse, but their difficulties are guaranteed enormous. With their great difficulties, the years of depression continues.

One of the best methods is to hold on to your cash, let the pain of asset owners be felt greatest at the owners' end. This may not apply to debt-free owners, but their sons might be gambling away their dad's assets. So yes. The pain is currently enormous. You can find asset trying to sell for the last 10 years and still couldn't get rid of it. Just do a 50% mark-down. The owner would let go. Trust me. If not, go for the next one. Don't be shy or kana embarrassed by the agent. Please don't worry too much about the face. It wouldn't hurt a bit.

Do not time your purchases. As long as you find it to be cheap. Just do it. The whole depression pricing is going to be relatively flat, i.e., the price would remain more or less the same. With inflation and what-have-you, this low price is extremely painful to the owners. If you are a worker, save money to buy. If you are self-employed, try to squeeze money to buy. This depression once passed would not come again for a long, long time.

The key assets to get are land sizes. Many whites still don't appreciate the value of land. They find the idea behind land size acquisition stupid. I agreed. Land acquisition on its own is stupid. But, land acquisition coupling with business inputs is absolutely sexy.

p.The Ultimate Bet

The last part is here:   The Balance of Business Power

I played two games - Texas Hold'em and Go.

Texas Hold'em - There are usually 8-10 players on the table. If based on the law of the averages, your chance of winning any hand is only 1/8 or 1/10. Therefore, unless you have a good starting hand, it is not advisable to push all the way. Even if you have a good hand, you might encounter antagonistic player leading to not-so-clear win. On the other cases, your winning hand is so strong that the other players just drop off early within a fight, wasting the good hand. Your winnings would then be unusually limited. The good news is that in the game of poker, you may bet them all one shot. Win or loss you will know by the end of the hand.
A simple check on the players' statistics, you would notice that many players are reckless, their winnings are continually low as compared to their highest cash achieved. These are high rollers, win big, lose big. But, their average cash are always very low compared to their top score. I have not discounted those players that paid real money for chips. There are also players who kept asking for chips whenever one player wins big. Cash accumulation is only possible by slow and small bets.

Go - In the game of go, it is usual that a weaker player would be given handicap stones to start, in the hope to find a balanced strength game. During the game, if you do reckless and adventurous moves, your ass would be whipped big time. If your moves are timid and small, again your might not lose any stones but the game is still not a win, because not only captured stones are counted, territory secured is also counted. By playing securely, the territory would be limited. So a balance of adventurism and self-defence is key to winning.
Unfortunately, trying to win big is never possible if the opponent is careful. Even if you win big occasionally, your rank won't advance very far. You need very consistent improvement.

Based on the above games, reflecting life, I realise that in business, never bet one big time and hope to win. This is never a winning strategy. Even if you have bet and won this round. You might still be punished the next round.

I saw so many examples in business that their failures were definite.

I believe in collaborative work. Your suppliers are not stupid. Your co-workers are not stupid. Your buyers are not stupid. Treat them with absolute respect. If they reply with disrespect, then it is only a matter of time that they would be dropped. No need for any sleight of hand.

If they imposed draconian condition like my retailers, I would bear with them. Slowly but surely, I removed one after 5 years and another after 10 years. This is a slow and painful passage but it can be done.

In the end, by not betting on any risk, winning is assured. Please don't believe on bullshit like high risk, high return; low risk, low return. To me, high risk means ultra high losses guaranteed. Low risk means still losses. The best is to take no risk. Sun Tzu said so. Pay everything using cash on hand. If you are without cash, I ever live on $1 per day for a long, long time. As long you pay every thing using cash, the banks would not come after you. By being debt-free, your mind would be free to think deeply before action.

Never bet more than 5% of your total assets at any one time. If possible, don't bet at all. Let the opponents resign to their fate.

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (兵勢篇第五) (Chapter 5 - 1) (Part 25)

Let's continue ...

Some translation suggested:
In all fighting, the direct method may be used for joining battle, but indirect methods will be needed in order to secure victory. Indirect tactics, efficiently applied, are inexhaustible as Heaven and Earth, unending as the flow of rivers and streams; like the sun and moon, they end but to begin anew; like the four seasons, they pass away to return once more. There are not more than five musical notes, yet the combinations of these five give rise to more melodies than can ever be heard. There are not more than five primary colors (blue, yellow, red, white, and black), yet in combination they produce more hues than can ever been seen. There are not more than five cardinal tastes (sour, acrid, salt, sweet, bitter), yet combinations of them yield more flavors than can ever be tasted. In battle, there are not more than two methods of attack -- the direct and the indirect; yet these two in combination give rise to an endless series of maneuvers. The direct and the indirect lead on to each other in turn. It is like moving in a circle--you never come to an end. Who can exhaust the possibilities of their combination?
Moran:   In all warfare, engagements occur on the up and up, but it is by deception or misdirection that one wins. So those who are good in the ways of deception are boundless like Heaven and Earth, inexhaustible like the Yangtze and the Yellow Rivers. Coming to the end, they begin again, just as do the days and months. Dying, they come to life again, just as do the four seasons. There are no more than five notes in the musical scale, but the changes that can be rung on those five notes are infinite in our hearing. PEM: By a kind of analogy to the five visible planets (regarded as gods in China as in the ancient Western world), the Chinese listed fives of other kinds of things that were keyed to the lists of the planets. So Mars and the color red were associated, for instance, and the pentatonic scale was explained as a parallel to the other sets of five.
There are no more than five colors, yet the changes that can be produced among them exceed our powers of discrimination. There are only five flavors to our palates, yet the changes among them exceed our powers of taste. The power configurations of warfare do not exceed the deceptive and the straightforward, yet the changes that can be rung on these two are inexhaustible. Deception and straightforwardness produce each other, like the endlessness of a circulatory system. Who could terminate such a loop?

Let's discuss:

:   In battle, use conventional methods to join, use unconventional methods to win.
故善出奇者,無窮如天地,不竭如江河。:   For generals who are good  at deploying unconventional methods, they are as inexhaustible as Heaven and Earth, as unending as the flow of rivers and streams;
: When the ending would start the beginning, as surely as the sun sets and the moon rises next.
:   When death would bring forth life, as surely as the four flowing seasons of the year.
: There are no more than five primary notes on the musical scale, but its combination is never ending music to the ears.
:   There are no more than five primary colours (blue, yellow, red, white, black), but its combination is never ending hue to the eyes.
:   There are no more than five cardinal tastes (sour, acrid, salt, sweet, bitter), but its combination is never ending flavour to the palate.
:   There are no more than two methods in warfare formation, unconventional and conventional, but its combination is never ending variation to the battle field.
Hence, unconventional method would bring forth conventional method and vice versa, as perfectly rounded like a smooth ring, how can one exhaust thee.

“孙子兵法,奇正虚实” 中指出:“有正无奇,虽整不烈,无以致胜也;有奇无正,虽锐无恃,难以控御也。” 其大意是:作战只有正兵而无奇兵,阵势虽很严整,但不能给敌方造成突然猛烈的打击,就无法取胜; 只有奇兵而无正兵,攻势虽很锋锐,但无可作依靠的钳制力量,就难以控制住敌人。

This translation is very weak here. The spirit of Sun Tzu was not captured. In this segment, the words were too flowery, mostly not useful. It is sufficed to say that this segment dealt with the most important aspect of the warfare, i.e., creativity.

In business, no two businesses past or present are similar. To attack or to defend, to consume or to dismemberment, to stay or to leave are each unique decision. No two methods can be duplicated. Hence, the only way to success is creativity. Once creativity is sustained, nothing in this world will cause you death. This is most important lesson in life arena.

Let's not talk about IBM or Microsoft, let's deal with Nokia's rise and fall. I am not advocating doing a technology start-up.

Nokia started as a wood cutter in 1865, slowly moved into electronics by 1990s. Her first success was in 1987 where Nokia produced a "large screen" cell phone. After that, it was history. From 1998 to 2012, Nokia became the largest cell phone seller, making tons of money. But, sadly at the same time, Nokia never did innovate beyond the "large screen". She was overtaken by Apple, a nobody in cell phone market by the product known as "smart phone".

From the above story, you would realize that creativity (奇) is key to the success of both Nokia (1987) and Apple (2007).

In 2013, Nokia sold out her cell phone division to Microsoft. She would not die but she has lost her prize.

Very common in chinese business, the above statement rang true to their philosophy. This is indeed the best opportunity to understand and defeat this philosophy.

人無我有,is the start of creativity, i.e., you are able to create something that others don't currently possess. This is correct. Creativity at its best.
人有我優,is also another great point. When others have the same product, we shall improve its quality to differentiate ourselves from our competition. This is also creativity.
人優我廉,is the start of the fall. By cheapening the product sale price, you wouldn't have enough to do R&D. If not enough R&D, you will lose product quality. There is no such thing as no more R&D required. Just look at Nokia at her peak, she could have easily come out with a smart phone concept. It was so easily implementable by her as she was the largest cell phone supplier in the market. The failing is confirmed by cheapening prices. Therefore, never reduce price, instead, increase product quality without increasing or decreasing price.
人廉我轉,is when the product line is now switched to some other product range. This is the most stupid idea. No product can be obsoleted. Every product was produced and succeeded due to a real need. Take for example, lights. Initially, it was candle based. After become the largest supplier of candle wax, when the filament lamps become possible, the rich wax supplier can surely invest in a filament lamp factory to produce light bulbs. His distribution channels were intact and strong as all his customers will still go to the candle stores for candles as lights. If the bulbs are available, they can consume the newer product. Similarly when fluorescent tubes became the new world order. The largest filament bulb manufacturer can surely produce fluorescent tubes as well. What I am saying is the need remained the same, the products answering the need may change. But, everything else such as bankers, distribution channels, suppliers, shippers and customers remained unchanged. If you already have these channels in place, it would be near impossible for newbies such Apple Computer to enter the cell phone arena. It was a fool-mate for Nokia. Eheim till date still produces the best motors for the market, Eheim has produced motors for the Panzer tanks in the world wars. Till now, they are still the best in price and reliability. They only need to continually innovate its product quality.
is the most stupid concept. After investing in the millions and thousand of hours, you walk away to hand the new comer the market. That must be the most stupid idea yet. Nokia did exactly that. The owners of Nokia have no ideas of what they have destroyed.

After writing this essay today, I am very happy. Happy in that the business arena out there is not as clever as I hope them to be. To be my worthy opponent, it really needs power of the mind.

This new year is going to be fun. New Year, everyone ...

The last part is here:   Happiness - A blessed Christmas 2012

The year 2013 has treated me well.

This coming year the 财神 is going to favour the horses out there. May all the horses find love, wealth and health.

For this year of the horse, I wish I have finally found peace in my life. Find a job. Find some money. Find a girl friend. Find a family. Find friends. Find a place to stay. Keep a pair of birds.

As for all the other animals, good luck, good love, good fortune and good healthy mind.

The pig is a bad animal. I don't like it, but I am 黑皮.  (x_.)

b.Cash-Flow Quadrants Revisited

The last part is here:   The Balance of Business Power

Robert Kiyosaki described (I am not sure he was the first, but I heard about this first from him) the cash-flow quadrants.

I have no intention to talk about investors and business owners. They are more or less established. So no point discussing the obvious.

Being an employee is not wrong. But, once one hits 35-40yo, he/she would be retrenched for younger blood. Further in about 30 years to go, more than 50% of the current jobs would be replaced by machines. It is therefore imperative that one must try not to be an employee. I saw so many negative examples. When they were retrenched, they couldn't face life properly and still tried very hard to rejoin the work force. This position was stated by me many times before. So up to this point, I have produced no new stuff.

So the next step is for those retrenched to start their self-employed step. The problem is they are already 20-30 years late. Nowadays, job specification is so heavy that an individual would take at least 20 years to hone. So a simple mis-step like getting employed would drive a deadly blow to one's prospect.

Employed versus Self-Employed:   Some argued that during employment, one can accumulate cash for subsequent business investment. Further, by joining a large corporation, one can speed-learn things. WRONG! Most hyper-business creation are very low on capital but high in knowledge, but need hours and hours of refinement. Examples are softwares/apps for mobiles, these apps don't require much infrastructure but time on station. If you have produced whatsapp, then there is nothing much further you need to do.

Employees I have mentioned before that they are usually paid very badly, way below replacement value, i.e., their time on station is not rewarded with equivalent monetary value. Hence, the longer one plies the trade, one is being disadvantaged more.

In exchange, if one were to start on the self-employment path. The starting is going to be super tough. But, because one started on very low base, no car, no house, no gf and stay at parents' place, chances are that he will survive and grow his weapon-of-choice. I presumed he doesn't have a diamond/gold/silver spoon to start with. Because he is so fucked up that he poses no threat to any one. He is therefore likely to survive like grass next to the trees. Given a good 10 years, being very focused, he will make it. He will start to see money coming his way.

He would face the first test in life. Whether he should flaunt his cash by buying fancy cars or houses or start to own the place he worked. The correct answer is buy the workshop that he works in. In time, if he doesn't do it early enough, he would be fucked big time.

This unfortunately is a very bitter path. This poor guy has no spare cash, no fancy cars, no love-nest, in short, he would be considered a very bad roughneck. Very few gals would be able to see through his potential. But, given another 10-20 years, he will fruit the best tree in town. He would have reached 40-50 years of age. I believe even at this age, there are still plenty of syts (sweet young things) waiting to be picked.

The set-back of this approach is that he will sire kids that are still very young. But, don't worry, with the longevity approach I have designed along the way. he would be alright. His kids would not need to be miserable starting from square one. His kids would be full of power and little toys.

The most powerful concept behind this approach is that you own the production unit in its entirety. You will continue to churn out products after products and no landlord or fuckens can touch you. Because you control the products' quality and pricing, you would be given a chance to live. For example, if you own the humble birdhouse in Indonesia, your birds would give you birdnests every single month, you may or may not be able to sell them for super high price, but you can always sell them at basement price (a price that every one would deem it cheap and just grab). With that, you would still be in good subsistence, i.e., you would be allowed to live and fight another day. Your only cost is power needed to sing a song to the birds, which is low compared to the selling price of the birdnests.

So start it right! Be an entrepreneur from day one, there is nothing to learn from the world. You just need to learn to hunt all alone in this world.

It is extremely lonely, but I still believe there would be a gal in this world that would understand me completely. Never mind, if I was fucked so many times previously. The end result is not too important, but I do enjoy this cute journey.

Nowadays I only want to eat the things I grew, drink the drinks I made, wear the fur I plucked, and only walk within the land of my choice.

g.The Inevitable Meeting of Minds

The last part is here:   Show - 非常完美 (2014)

Time has gone by in great leap. In the group, there were 7 guys and 4 gals. Originally they have all agreed to meet for the coming chinese new year at a particular place and have some fun as well as in catching up with the old times. Inevitably out of the blue, one of the guys suggested that I joined in the fun. I replied that I might not fit in so well. It's been so long and I am now but a lowly roughneck. The guys and gals are currently the head honchos of their respective industries. He said never mind, it's only a gathering. To be courteous, he announced my impending arrival, but not on the chinese new year, I am busy with my own stuff. Immediately, all the gals privately messaged and sought to meet me in private. Of course, being a chee-ko-pek, I agreed to all their requests. Suddenly all the gals announced in the group that they are no longer interested in the chinese new year get-together.  (._.)

The guy then asked me what had happened? I replied in the negative. The guys were perplexed as to what has transpired between the gals and me. They felt slighted.  (._.)

One of the gals has a 2-year old kid and freshly divorced. Another one is also a divorcee but no kiddo. I shan't reveal all as that might cause a confluence of facts for truth identity.

I did tell the gals that I am a poor bastard and nothing good can come from me. I have no one and will have no one. The gals then proceeded to ask me what do I do for a living? I replied that I am singing a song to the birds in Indonesia. All of a sudden, they got excited. They asked, "Does it mean that they can keep their youth?" This time, I replied in the positive.

Gals are funny. Tell them the truth that I am working my ass off in a roughneck job. They will shunt me immediately. If I tell them I am jobless, keep very long hair, appear bad boy, but still give them nice treats, they fucking won't never believe I am indeed a roughneck. They immediately concoct for themselves an adventure that is out of this world. An adventure full of dangers, deceit and rich rewards. But, frankly, how many of us have such fortune?

It is amazing that gals can fall for such deceitful words of rhyme.

On the other hand, the guys were slighted by me as they felt short-changed that a simple encounter with me and the gals can cause the gals to shunt their well-organised party. I am sorry.

The reason for my so-called "success" is because I have no dreams, no desires, no expectations. Gals find this characteristics very alpha and very mysterious. I must have many gals in my life so much so that I can afford to sound so detached. Being so experienced, these gals would also wish to try the wares. But, these gals never know that there is another explanation to this attitude. It might be because my heart has grown very old and have become stone-cold.

The guys don't know that by clowning around, they will get the initial attention of the gals. But, the gals need further confirmation that the guy is strong beyond measure. When that happens, the gals will date you even if you are a Stonehenge.

So hone that weapon-of-choice beyond the reach of common folks. If you own just a humble birdhouse in Indonesia, do you think you are just a plain roughneck?

I am now buying rice from Belaga, Sarawak. Can you now deduce anything from that?

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (軍形篇第四) (Chapter 4 - 3) (Part 24)

Let's continue ...

This chapter is about strategic influence.

Some translation suggested:
Sun Tzu said:   The control of a large force is the same principle as the control of a few men: it is merely a question of dividing up their numbers. Fighting with a large army under your command is nowise different from fighting with a small one:   it is merely a question of instituting signs and signals. To ensure that your whole host may withstand the brunt of the enemy's attack and remain unshaken -- this is effected by maneuvers direct and indirect. That the impact of your army may be like a grindstone dashed against an egg -- this is effected by the science of weak points and strong.
Moran:   Sun Tzu said:   In all cases, regulating the multitudes is no different from regulating small groups — it is a matter of dividing the numbers of them up. PEM: Raw power does not itself determine outcomes. Power can be directed against larger or smaller objectives as one chooses.
Taking on a multitude in combat is like taking on a small group in combat — it is a matter of giving form to names. PEM: The Daoist view is that no divisions exist in nature. All divisions are imposed by minds. One may at one time see a single army, a much larger entity than one's own army. But by an act of mind one can see the one-fourth part of the enemy's army that has crossed the river as one army, the army to be 50 demolished by one's own larger army, and the three-fourth part of the enemy's army effectively isolated by the river as another army to be dealt with at some later time. Asymmetrical warfare often works by s mall and highly mobile forces taking on isolated enemy objectives and then quickly melting away.
The multitudes composing the three armies can be required to accept enemy [assaults] and yet will suffer no defeats — it is a matter o f deception complementing uprightness. When soldiers pile on, it is [or should be] like throwing a whetstone on eggs — a matter of solids versus voids.

Let's discuss:

Master Sun said:
Managing large numbers is similar to managing individuals, it is a matter of dividing up their numbers.
Taking on multitude combat is similar to taking on small group combat, it is a matter of giving each form a name.
For a three armies to withstand the brunt of the enemy's attack and remain unshaken, it is effected by an unusual against a usual maneuver.
When soldiers pile on, it is like throwing a whetstone on a egg, creating a solid against a void.

This translation is very weak. I am glad that the translation has been so weak all along. It gives me strength. It is not easy to understand Sun Tzu. His pain. But, if you study too the battle between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu, the three kingdoms or any extended war classics, you would have at least a glimmer into the inner thoughts of Sun Tzu.

In life, there are many lucky occasions where one is catapulted to super high heights. Some managed to sustain that height. Many don't. Many ended up in miseries and sadness asking for the rest of their miserable existence why weren't they able to continue with the success story, but ending up to wallow their depths. Luck is just an occasion where the confluence of odds will make you an advancement. But, that advancement is unmerited, i.e., you don't deserve that advancement but yet it is given to you. To be able to sustain it, you need to have innate skills. These skills will need to be accumulated. Just like in the game arena, you would notice that you will always fall back to the level you are used to, after a quick advancement. Your innate skills will always support your rank in the game. Occasionally you will advance to slightly higher ranks but never too much. After a couple of years and skills development, you realized you will slowly progress and advance in your true rank.

Success is never found on luck. It was occasional luck that make your advancement less painful. It is at best a lubricant, but never a gateway to better future.

In business, good internal organisation means each small business group within the organisation can function on their own. Each of these small groups will then link like nodes to form larger structures. Once each node is hardened and the communication to each node is complete, the business organisation would be indefeasible against external threats. When attacking, one must pile on numbers to destroy the smallish enemy.

It is a simple interpretation. Most business organisations nowadays are quite nibble and efficient, not much faults can be defined. Organisationally, it is good to ensure that employees can operate in very small groups to produce a business function. That way, the employees will feel a sense of responsibility and belonging. In the event, one needs to cut functions, the boss can do so in logical units, without losing node integrity.

Up to now, Sun Tzu is still in the numbers game, i.e., he defined each soldier as a digit. Not cleverer nor more stupid than the enemy trooper. To defeat an enemy, it is a matter of piling numbers to the problem. Not wrong. I believed his true feeling was he would train his troops well, but erred on the side of numbers, i.e., on equal strengths, he might and would win, but with superior numbers, he would make no mistake.

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (軍形篇第四) (Chapter 4 - 2) (Part 23)

Some translation suggested:
The consummate leader cultivates the moral law, and strictly adheres to method and discipline; thus it is in his power to control success. In respect of military method, we have, firstly, Measurement; secondly, Estimation of quantity; thirdly, Calculation; fourthly, Balancing of chances; fifthly, Victory. Measurement owes its existence to Earth; Estimation of quantity to Measurement; Calculation to Estimation of quantity; Balancing of chances to Calculation; and Victory to Balancing of chances. A victorious army opposed to a routed one, is as a pound's weight placed in the scale against a single grain. The onrush of a conquering force is like the bursting of pent-up waters into a chasm a thousand fathoms deep.
Moran:   Those who are good at using troops will mend their Dao and protect their laws so that they will be able to conduct a governance that wins out over defeat. PEM: The Dao or Way mentioned here is probably the same as that mentioned at the beginning of this book. It is the set of beliefs and aspirations that the ruler has nurtured throughout society. In the world of today this Dao is relevant to laws and to standards of international behavior.
The components of warfare: The first is called a metric. PEM: The character is used to speak of marks inscribed in some artifact such as a bronze measuring rod. So the primary sense would be a linear measure of something.
The second is called measure. PEM: Knowledge about favorable and unfavorable conditions would be obtained by applying some metric to measure some actual situation. While a is a measure of length, a is a measure of volume. There may be some idea of going from abstract characterizations such as length to more concrete characteristics such as the area or the volume of something. Or perhaps the two terms are related in the same general way as distances to travel are related to the volumes of food and water that must be provided for the trip.
The third is called enumeration (calculation). PEM: Planning things out step by step, e.g., how much fodder for the oxen and horses is really required to get from here to there?
PEM: Knowing what the conditions really are. Using the metrics and real measures to actually determine what is what, and then setting things in some useful order.
The fourth is called weighing and evaluation. PEM: This part is operational and is based on the previous three steps being in place. How are things going at each step? Put the measured conditions of one's troops and the opposition's troops on the balance scale.
The fifth is called victory. PEM: If the above four steps are well handled, one will avoid putting oneself on the offensive when one is not going to be adequately prepared and thereby get defeated.
Geography (lay of the land, the terrain) produces metrics. PEM: It imposes a metric somehow. Maybe Master Sun just means that the distance from my capital to their capital determines how far they must come to attack me, and similar such considerations.
Metrics produce measures. PEM: In addition to being able to make simple measurements of area, volume, weight, etc., one can measure more abstract conditions such as the current effectiveness range of a certain regiment. If one has a metric, a way to measure conditions, then one can form measures of the conditions of one's army, the opposition's army, etc.
Measure produces enumeration (i.e., calculations). PEM: Once the statistics are in, one can do calculations.
Enumeration produces weighing [one thing against another in the balance]. PEM: With the statistics in hand one can do realistic. objective comparisons.
Weighing (comparisons at each step for each metric) produces victory. PEM: The rule is: Do not attack when one is in an inferior position. Attack only when the enemy has already assured his defeat and one knows it. These judgments must be objective. They must be based on empirical evidence and not on wishful thinking.
Truly, using victorious armies resembles weighing a full measure of gold against 1/24 measure of gold. Using losing armies resembles weighing 1/24th measure of gold against a full measure of gold. PEM: This comment validates the notes given above. Master Sun seems to prefer a quantitative superiority, in any battle to be undertaken, of about twenty-four to one.
The warfare of a victor is like the cutting loose of impounded water over a ravine of a thousand rods depth — the whole thing is thereafter only a matter of the lay of the land. PEM: This sentence gives a good example of a (power configuration.) Having water is not enough. Having impounded water is not, in itself, worth much more. But having impounded water in a location that assures that if released it will deliver irresistible force in a particular direction or against a particular point of opposition gives one a kind of real power in the world. Having introduced the idea here, the next chapter discusses power configurations in detail.

Let's discuss:

:   Good general shall implement dignity into the laws These laws shall determine the governance's victory or defeat.
The components of warfare:   First is length.
Second is measure.
Third is count.
Fourth is weigh.
Fifth is victory.
Land gives length.
Length gives measure.
Measure gives count.
Count gives weigh.
Weigh gives victory.
Therefore, winning army resembles weighing a full measure of gold against 1/24 measure of gold. Losing armies resembles weighing 1/24th measure of gold against a full measure of gold.
The warfare of a victor is conducted like cutting loose a dam of water over a ravine of a thousand rods depth — lay of the land.

This is the meat part of the chapter. Everything else are more airy-fairy.

In business, SunTzu said that good dignified laws should be implemented into the business organization. The business market shall provide the dimensions (length) of the business focus. These dimensions are measured and counted as factors. Each factor is weighed against each other to evaluate the chance to victory. A winning evaluation is a strength study of 24 : 1, overwhelming strong.

I feel that SunTzu is getting more and more kiasu and kiasi. Unless he evaluated the chance of absolute 24 is to 1, he would not attack. Any chance of losing a battle, I would presume he would not fight. Such conservation. It was the same advice of not borrowing from the banks by my dad long time ago. I didn't realise that as age catches up, the old guy will get more and more risk adverse. Very interest indeed.

(Han Xin) didn't even bother to save his boss until he grew numerically and technically way stronger than Xiang Yu. Only then Han Xin would supply the army to conduct a joint-attack on Xiang Yu. A Han 600,000 troopers against Xiang Yu's 150,000 crack troopers. This was done using a 10-face ambush. Han Xin won convincingly.

My dad didn't explain his reason for not-borrowing from the banks many years ago. I didn't take note of this advice until years later. Borrowing from banks was so easy and quick way to business possibilities. But, as business grew, these bank borrowings became heavier and heavier on my neck. I couldn't even move a single step until I got ride of these fucking loans. Looking back, if I had not borrowed my business would have grown much much slower in the beginning, but would fly way past my current achievement. Borrowing from banks is like getting 諸侯 to lend army troopers for war. Han Xin never trusted the support of 諸侯, he grew the army on his own, never once trusted support from any 諸侯. When the going gets tough, 諸侯 would withdraw their troops from engaging, leaving the general venerable to failures. I was like that. When the going gets tough, all loans were recalled, leaving me stark naked to face my enemies, exposing my absolute weaknesses. Luckily I survived. Unfortunately, such lesson was learned the hard way.

So, it is 欲速则不达. I have learned this very valuable lesson.

For those of you still on borrowings, be very careful. Your strength is no match to the bank's recall of loans. Once recalled, you can almost assume a very negative status. Not only you can't start from square 0 or 1, you start from square negative 20, i.e., you need to first repay your failures, save again your starting daily expenses, before allowing to restart like any 21yo kiddo with zero dollar. This is the grim reality of life's failure. It is never a free lunch. You have to pay with your life.

The last part is here:   The Adventure

The show is here:   非常完美 (2014)

"即使我不是你一生中第一个女人, 我想成为你最后一个女人."

Amazing words. If a guy faced with this phrase, that guy would have fallen under her spell. This is how amazing words can bring a message.

Guys are such simple folks. So easily persuaded.

This show is not as traditional as 非誠勿擾.

Women are the one element in Chinese society that has most reformed in modern China. Compared to the feudal era, Chinese women can now go to school, get high-paying jobs, and even choose their own husbands. However, this advancement of equal rights and empowerment hasn’t been matched by a tacit acknowledge of such progress; instead, Chinese women are even more demanding towards their prospective mates by issuing impossibly high conditions for men to satisfy them. As Sinopathic showed you previously in an online list of rules to identify the “Perfect Chinese Man“, it appears Chinese women don’t want to find a husband so much as they want to find another father to raise them.

This motivation isn’t revealed on “Very Perfect”, but their ambition is.

This world has gotten so complex that gals have mutated to such a complex being, so much so that guys simply couldn't catch up at all. Guys nowadays are quite lost. Without assets provided by their previous generations, these younger generations simply have no chance.

I saw it within one generation of broken marriage, the kids were literally destroyed by the bad side effects. The rate of destroyed marriages is so high now that it is almost impossible for kids to grow up comfortably. For these kids to survive, it is going to be real tough. I apologize for their pain. I wish I could have done better.

Apology is never enough, action must speak louder than mere words.

Anti-Aging Chinese Herbs: 雷公根 and 枸杞
Posted June 15, 2010 by Alicia

A few months ago, I was researching immortality when I came upon an extraordinary story. It told of the oldest living human, a Chinese man named 李清雲 who reportedly lived to be over 250 years old. Before you click away from this page in skepticism, it’s said that his obituary was published in the New York Times when he died in 1933 – dating his birth at 1677 (I haven’t spoken to anyone at the Times to back this up, but I totally plan on calling them this week).

Meantime, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by such an amazing story and I had to know right away: what the heck did this guy eat? Lucky for me, he was an herbalist – and his recipe for long life had been well documented.

A Professor of Chinese herbal medicine, 李清雲 supposedly lived the first half of his long life in the mountains, studying herbs and their properties. The latter part of his life was devoted to teaching, and at the end of his life it’s said that he was still lecturing. When asked what gave him such long life, he reportedly answered: “nothing has irritated me since I was 40 years old. Because of that, my heart is very calm, peaceful and divinely tranquil. That is why I am free from any illness, and always healthy and happy.”

When I read this I thought, "Nice. This is definitely an answer true to my own heart, but I’m looking for something closer to my own stomach." Digging a little deeper, I read his secret: 5 grams of Gou Qi Zi (Goji Berries) and a few leaves of 雷公根 per day. Everyday for 220-something years? I could do that!

Both Goji Berries and 雷公根 have made modern day news as super herbs. Goji Berries, found growing high in the asian alpine regions, have for centuries been used as a preventative treatment for healthy eyes. They’re also packed with antioxidants, which make them amazing for anti-aging (they’ve even made their way into various skincare products, as well as packaged cereals and bars).

Professor 李清雲 attributed 雷公根, or Pennywort, to helping him maintain a calm state of mind – in his opinion, the most important longevity factor. When it comes to 雷公根, the saying in Asia goes :“Two leaves a day, keeps old age away”! Used by Chinese and Indian herbal doctors for thousands of years, 雷公根 is a remedy that is still used today to combat stress-related anxiety, and strengthen immunity. 雷公根 is a unique herb not to be confused with the Kola Nut, which contains caffeine. 雷公根 has no caffeine present, and instead contains compounds called triterpenoids that can decrease anxiety and increase mental function.

This April I moved across town, just one block from the gates to Chinatown. Vancouver has one of the largest Chinatown’s in North America, and I knew that if I could find 雷公根 leaves and Goji Berries anywhere, it would be here. I was settled in my new place I set out to find these two most amazing ingredients for immortality. It wasn’t to be as easy as I thought.

My first stop was T & T Market, and asian super market chain found across Canada. Here, I thought, I’ll find that 雷公根 and make salads, pestos and who knows what else – and eat it every day! I was so wrong.

I found myself at the customer service desk, earnestly describing to the clerk (Name: Renee, we’re good friends now) what I was looking for. She looked at me like I was nuts. Likewise the head of the produce department, and the general manager. No one knew what 雷公根 was (I didn’t even bother asking for Goji Berries).

Back at home I looked up the Chinese name for 雷公根 online. I found it – and then I found another. Then another. Then another. I found a total of 5 different Cantonese or Mandarin names for one herb! Which one was it? Yikes. Of course I scribbled them all down and headed back out.

At the grocery store I was met with the same bewilderment. What was I looking for, exactly? Was it a vegetable? A fruit? An herb? Which one on the list was I looking for? I had no idea, of course. I was finally directed to the heart of Chinatown, where I could (and should) inquire at one of the pharmacies.

The next day, 4 1/2 year old daughter/co-explorer in tow, I marched through the gates into Chinatown. I had a plan: since there were about a gazillion (ok, more like 20) herbal dispensaries within a 3 block radius, I was going to start with one I had first visited as a teenager (a scant 20 years prior, barely a blip on my soon-to-be-immortal radar). But alas, when I arrived I found it had long ago departed.

And so I took a chance, and headed across the street. We entered a bustling (always a good sign), packed place. I found a woman in a white coat (a pharmacist – also a good sign), and I handed her my well meaning note. (Addendum: I had left the original note at the supermarket, so had to look them all up again – this time finding only 3. They were: Ji Xue Cao, Ping Da Wan, and Fo Ti Tieng). “Ha ha ha,” she laughed at me, “which one you want?”. Sigh. Again.

I explained that I wasn’t sure since I thought they were all the same thing, but that I could draw her a picture of the fresh herb. She led me to the side of the shop, and pulled out some packaging paper. Instead of having me draw, she began to literally throw different herbs onto the page, naming them as she did. Fo Ti looked like a root, not at all like the leaves of the 雷公根. That left choosing between the remaining two. My pharmacist began explaining in broken English what each herb looked like, and then began drawing. Instantly I recognized my Pennywort, and chose the corresponding herb (Ping Da Wan – readers take note). When she asked me what I wanted it for, I declared, “my mind” – she advised taking Gingko Biloba instead. “This,” she said, pointing to my pile of herbs, “very powerful for detox. This you want to clean for you”. Perfect, I thought, cleanliness is next to Goddessliness, and I aim to become a Goddess! “I’ll take it!” I shouted, “How much?! One and half pound?!” she yelled, and ushered me to the cash register. I was told I could take as a tea everyday, one handful in boiling water if I wanted. The exchange and advice was so casual, I felt like no one had ever been prescribed this stuff!

1 and 1/2 pounds of dried 雷公根 later, and I was on my way to immortality. Price: 86 cents (no kidding); value: one half of priceless). All I was missing were the other half of the recipe: Goji Berries. Skipping up another street, my daughter and I found a different pharmacy, smaller and far less busy. Jackpot again: There on shelves were bags and bags of the berries – big, small, dark and light colored. And prices ranged across the board from $3 to $40 per bag. I asked a clerk to explain the difference in prices, and received a very polite, “this one better, this one not so good,” very descriptive, thank you. I chose a bag under the classification of “Very Good”, which apparently was just under “Excellent”, and paid my $7. Before I left, I asked again for Ping Da Wan/ 雷公根, and both shop clerks in the store had no idea what I was talking about. I showed them my stash, which they eagerly fingered, laughing “Ping Da Wan, Ping Da Wan” under their breath. As if it were a pile of special silk thread, meant to wrap someone in the smooth shroud of long life.

At a fruit stand next door, I thought I’d try my luck one more time at finding the raw green herb (雷公根 pesto here I wanted to come so badly!). Sadly, no luck – though I managed to attract a crowd of lively shoppers who wanted to see this special dried herb. More laughs, and much tapping on my back with eyes twinkling. Friendly, at least!

Back at home, I unwrapped the herbs. They weren’t all leafy like I would have liked, but looked like a bunch of stems with a smattering of leaves. I tried one, it was very bitter. My tea would require honey – and lots.

I concocted a tea of one handful 雷公根 and about a gram of Goji Berries (I had broken into the bag and eaten about 200 grams on the way home. Readers, don’t do this – your bum will thank you). It made enough for about 4 small cups, which I approximated to be about 2 – 3 leaves. I left the tea loose in the teapot, and had a few cups.

While it smelled like any herbal shop I’d been to – grassy, herby, slightly mildewy – the taste was mild and pleasant, and not really bitter at all (surprise!). The Goji Berries were plump and a nice touch, too. That evening, I felt energized but ready for sleep. I felt mentally clear, and relaxed. Placebo effect or not, I felt great.

I think this tea may become an everyday ritual. With a tea like this steeped in ancient wisdom and lore, I think I have only everything to gain (including 200 years). Of course, I could easily have ordered a tincture online – but then I wouldn’t have had this little adventure to share.

Love, Alicia

PS:   If anyone knows where I can find the raw 雷公根 herb, please email me or post a comment! I’m still dying (actually, not really anymore! Haha!) to try eating it! Be Sociable, Share!

(Centella Asiatica) really is a magical herb. Not only is it full of minerals -- calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, chromium, zinc, selenium, iodine, silicon, germanium and cobalt -- but it contains awesome phytonutrients known as triterpenoids. Triterpenoids promote collagen formation and have been shown to concentrate antioxidants into damaged tissue and increase the blood supply as well. Germanium is essential for the regeneration of DNA and for maximising nutritional well-being in the body. It also activates oxygen within the body enabling more to be available to the tissues and helps to restore T-cell balance thus heightening immune system function. Cobalt is the key mineral holding vitamin B12 together and yes, you get vitamin B12 in 雷公根

The Chinese herbologist Professor 李清雲 outlived 23 wives and claimed one of his major nutritional staples was 雷公根. He was born in 1677 and died in 1933 -- he lived an amazing 256 years, and it is documented by the Chinese government who celebrated his 150th and 200th Birthday with him. He still gave 3 hours lectures on longevity at the age of 200 for 28 weeks at a time. Ginseng was another herb promoted by Professor 李清雲 as contributing to maximum health and longevity (ginseng also contains germanium). He was a strict vegetarian who ate herbs that grew above the ground only and fruit of high alkaline mineral content -- the soils in which he cultivated his foods were rich in humus, minerals and microbial life.

My Comments:

Many interesting sources. But, I believe we are closer to the truth now.

I refused to write in English for fear of leakage. I will work on the consumption rate next.
